Sensesemi Technologies, a DLI-approved fabless semiconductor startup, has raised ₹25 crore (approximately $2.75 million) in a seed funding round. The investment was led by Piper Serica, with significant participation from LetsVenture Angel Fund, Sun Icon Ventures, MyAsiaVC, Whitepine Investments, Jain Oncor, and the REAN Foundation.
The fresh capital will be used to accelerate the company’s product development, specifically for chip tape-outs and the creation of reference designs. Sensesemi also plans to expand its engineering team and forge strategic partnerships with Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) and device manufacturers to scale its commercial presence.
The Architecture of Intelligence: Analog-Domain AI
Founded in 2014 by industry veterans Vijay Muktamath and Namit Varma, Sensesemi is tackling one of the most significant challenges in the semiconductor world: Power Efficiency at the Edge.
Current edge-AI solutions often force developers to choose between high-performance intelligence and battery longevity. Sensesemi is breaking this trade-off by developing an analog AI inference processor. By performing AI calculations within the analog domain before converting data to digital, the company can achieve multi-year battery life for devices that require constant, real-time intelligence.
Key Verticals and Applications
Sensesemi’s ultra-low-power System-on-Chips (SoCs) are designed for a future where 5–7 billion edge-AI units are expected to be shipped annually by 2030. The company is targeting three high-growth sectors:
Medical Devices: Powering implantable devices, neurostimulators, and continuous cardiac monitoring systems that require high reliability and minimal battery drain.
Industrial IoT: Enabling vision-based quality checks, environmental monitoring, and predictive maintenance on factory floors without the need for constant recharging.
Automotive: Supporting driver monitoring systems and multi-sensor ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) with localized, secure processing.
Strengthening India’s Semiconductor Self-Reliance
As a recipient of the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme from the Government of India, Sensesemi is a key player in the nation’s mission to become a global semiconductor hub.
“Value in the semiconductor market is created by companies that own their IP,” said Abhay Agarwal, Founder of Piper Serica. “We are excited to back Sensesemi as they build indigenous, globally competitive SoCs that strengthen India’s technology self-reliance.”
