Solgram Raises Over $1 Million in Pre-Seed Round Led by DSG Consumer Partners and Saama Capital

Gurugram-based premium grocery startup Solgram has raised over $1 million in a pre-seed funding round led by DSG Consumer Partners and Saama Capital. Hospitality entrepreneur Kapil Chopra also participated in the round.

The funding comes less than a quarter after Solgram began operations. The company plans to use the capital to expand its cold-chain infrastructure, strengthen its technology stack, build closer sourcing relationships and scale its operations across the National Capital Region (NCR).

Founded by Shashank Shekhar Sharma, Solgram is building a premium grocery platform focused on fresh produce, dairy, meat, seafood and other temperature-sensitive products. Its model is built around an end-to-end temperature-controlled supply chain, covering sourcing, storage, order fulfilment and doorstep delivery.

Solgram Builds a Temperature-Controlled Grocery Supply Chain

Unlike conventional grocery delivery platforms, Solgram has designed its operations around temperature-controlled storage and fulfilment. Its infrastructure includes dedicated storage zones for different product categories, sealed thermal packaging and specialised last-mile delivery facilities.

The company manages several stages of the supply chain, including sourcing, quality inspection, storage, order processing and delivery. The aim is to maintain product quality throughout the journey from suppliers to customers.

Platform Offers Fresh Produce, Gourmet Products and Mindful Mode

Solgram’s product range includes fresh produce, dairy, meat, seafood, bakery items, gourmet pantry products and offerings from emerging food brands.

The company has also introduced Mindful Mode, a dedicated shopping category for health-conscious consumers. It features products with cleaner labels, nutritional information and details about product provenance, helping customers make more informed purchasing decisions.

For deliveries, Solgram offers both scheduled batched delivery and express options to meet different customer requirements.

NCR Expansion Before Entering New Cities

Solgram currently operates in Gurugram and plans to expand across the wider NCR before entering other Tier-I cities in the coming months.

The company intends to focus on building operational consistency rather than expanding into multiple locations too quickly. Its strategy is to establish stronger operational density within individual clusters before moving into additional markets.

The fresh funding will support this approach, with investments planned in cold-chain capabilities, technology and sourcing infrastructure.

With over $1 million raised within a quarter of its launch, Solgram has secured early backing from DSG Consumer Partners, Saama Capital and Kapil Chopra as it works to build its presence in India’s premium grocery market.
