Mumbai — Docterz, a healthcare technology company founded by practising paediatrician Dr Atish Laddad, has raised ₹5 crore from approximately 35 investors. Notably, nearly 60% of the funding—close to ₹3 crore—has come from around 20 doctors who use the Docterz platform.
The round also includes participation from Vineeta Singh, Co-founder and CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics, and Avnish Anand, Co-founder and former CEO of CaratLane.
The strong participation from doctor-users highlights the company’s traction among medical practitioners and its focus on building technology designed around the day-to-day needs of clinics and independent doctors.
Platform Built for Medical Practices
Founded over a decade ago, Docterz offers an integrated practice-management and electronic medical records platform. Its offerings include appointment management, billing, vaccination management, patient engagement, pharmacy and laboratory management, analytics and teleconsultation.
The platform currently supports more than 5,000 doctors across India, with a particularly strong presence in paediatrics. Docterz says its approach prioritises patient-data security, clinical independence and the doctor–patient relationship.
Dr Atish Laddad, Founder of Docterz, said the funding round was especially meaningful because doctors who use the platform have chosen to invest in its future. He said the company will use the capital to grow organically, explore inorganic opportunities and introduce practical AI tools that address everyday clinical and administrative challenges.
Funding to Support AI and Expansion
The newly raised capital will support Docterz’s expansion across India, with a focus on reaching more independent practitioners, smaller clinics and healthcare organisations.
The company also plans to strengthen its AI-enabled capabilities for documentation, administrative workflows, practice analytics and patient follow-up. Its broader roadmap includes deeper integration with India’s digital-health ecosystem, including the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
Investor Confidence from Users
Doctor-investors said their decision to back Docterz was based on their experience using the platform in their practices. Dr Dhananjay Sangle, a paediatrician and Docterz user-investor, said the software has been smooth, fast and easy to use across his paediatric and OB-GYN practices.
Dr Suhas Warad, another paediatrician and investor, said technology designed around doctors’ needs can help practitioners manage their clinics more efficiently and devote more time to patient care.
Vineeta Singh said the willingness of Docterz’s own customers to invest in the company was one of the strongest signals of its product-market fit. She added that the company’s doctor-led approach gives it a deep understanding of the problems it is solving.
