Dehradun: The Department of Skill Development and Employment, Uttarakhand, and M3M Foundation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand industry-relevant skill training for young people across the state and strengthen pathways to employment and sustainable livelihoods.
The MoU was signed in Dehradun by Sanjay Kumar, Director (Training), Training & Employment, on behalf of the Uttarakhand government, and Dr. Aishwarya Mahajan, Managing Trustee and President, M3M Foundation.
The partnership will establish a collaborative framework for delivering technical training aligned with evolving industry requirements. The initiative will focus on improving employability, strengthening industry linkages, facilitating placement opportunities, and supporting both employment and self-employment.
During the initial phase, training centres are planned in Dehradun, Haldwani, Kashipur, and Pithoragarh. Depending on project requirements, local conditions, and the availability of beneficiaries, Almora and Barkot may also be added.
Each training centre is expected to offer at least two courses, with the selection based on local industry demand and employment opportunities. Proposed courses include Junior Technician – Electric Vehicle, Junior Technician – Auto Electrical Maintenance, Junior Technician – Automobile Repair & Maintenance, Junior Technician – Internet of Things (IoT), and Junior Technician – Plumbing.
The partnership will also focus on strengthening industry engagement and placement support while monitoring training quality and post-training outcomes. By aligning technical education with emerging technologies and local employment demand, the initiative aims to create stronger pathways from training to jobs and livelihoods.
Dr. Payal Kanodia, Chairperson and Trustee, M3M Foundation, said the partnership aims to make skill development more industry-focused and employment-oriented for young people in Uttarakhand.
She added that collaboration between the M3M Foundation and the Department of Skill Development and Employment can help strengthen the connection between skill training, industry requirements, employment opportunities, and sustainable livelihoods.
The partnership brings together government and social-sector efforts to expand access to quality vocational training and improve employment pathways for youth across Uttarakhand. Through the initiative, both organizations will work towards strengthening the state’s skill development ecosystem and creating more effective links between training, employment, and livelihood opportunities.
