Order for Health: Building Bengaluru’s Fresh, Healthy Food Brand Through Frugal Innovation

As health-conscious eating becomes more accessible and mainstream, Order for Health (O4H) is building a fresh-food brand focused on making nutritious meals convenient, affordable, and enjoyable. Founded by Pravin, Naveen, and Aritra, the Bengaluru-based company started with a modest investment and has expanded from one kitchen in Belandur to a growing network across the city. Its core promise is simple: fresh, tasty food made without freezing or preservatives.

From One Kitchen to a Citywide Brand

Order for Health began in 2022 during a period when consumers were becoming more conscious of their health and daily food choices. The founders saw an opportunity to offer meals that were not only nutritious but also fresh and convenient. The company started with a single kitchen in Belandur and gradually expanded to nine kitchens across Bengaluru. Its focus on quality and customer satisfaction has helped it maintain ratings of approximately 4.5 to 4.6 on platforms such as Swiggy and Zomato. For the team, the growth has been driven by customer feedback, repeat orders, and a commitment to maintaining consistency as the business expands.

Fresh Food Without Shortcuts

A key differentiator for Order for Health is its focus on fresh, non-frozen, and non-preserved food. The founders believe that many healthy-food businesses rely on frozen or preserved ingredients to manage cost and supply-chain complexity. O4H has chosen a more demanding path. The team works to preserve freshness while managing procurement, kitchen operations, delivery, and pricing efficiently. Naveen % explains that providing healthy food at scale is challenging because the food cost for healthy cuisine can reach 40–45%, compared with approximately 20–25% for regular Indian cuisine. Additional costs include delivery-platform commissions, manpower, rentals, and capital expenditure. This makes operational efficiency essential to the company’s model.

The Story Behind the Name

The name Order for Health was chosen to communicate the company’s purpose clearly. It represents the idea that customers can order food that supports their health without compromising on taste. The brand’s tagline, “Eat good and feel good about it,” captures this balance. O4H aims to make healthy food feel enjoyable and practical rather than restrictive. The founders want the company to become a holistic healthy-food destination, not merely a salad brand.

Starting with ₹4 Lakh

Order for Health began with an initial bootstrapped investment of approximately ₹4 lakh. The founders kept costs low by using second-hand equipment, maintaining a lean team, and prioritising kitchen capacity over unnecessary spending. Instead of investing heavily in branding or infrastructure at the beginning, they focused on being able to fulfil orders reliably. As revenue grew, profits were reinvested into additional kitchens and operational expansion. This frugal approach was supported by the founders’ previous experience in supply chain and operations, including their time at Flipkart. Their background helped them manage procurement, inventory, pricing, and kitchen expansion with discipline.

Product Innovation and Customer Feedback

The brand continues to experiment with new products, launching and evaluating items regularly. Some products are retained based on customer response, while others are phased out. Its menu includes products such as choco mousse cakes and burrito balls, developed in-house with an emphasis on taste, health, and freshness. The founders believe healthy food must first be enjoyable if it is to become part of consumers’ everyday habits. Customer feedback plays a central role in product development. Repeat rates, ratings, and direct responses help the team understand what customers value and where improvements are needed.

Building Trust Through Consistency

Growing from one kitchen to nine while maintaining customer trust has required strong operating processes. The team’s three key pillars are:

  • Innovative products
  • Efficient operations
  • A dedicated team

The company has also focused on procurement standards, quality checks, and consistency across locations. Its strong ratings on Swiggy and Zomato indicate the importance of this approach. For the founders, customer satisfaction is not just a performance metric. It is the foundation for expansion.

A Team Built on Ownership

One of the founders’ key leadership lessons has been the importance of building a trustworthy team. As the business grows, founders cannot manage every function themselves. At O4H, team members are encouraged to take ownership of their respective areas and be accountable for results. This approach helps the company move quickly while maintaining responsibility across operations. The founders’ experience in large-scale supply-chain and e-commerce operations has also helped them understand the importance of processes, discipline, and customer-centric decision-making.

Expanding Beyond Bengaluru

O4H currently has a strong presence in Bengaluru, with plans to reach more parts of the city and expand to other major markets such as Hyderabad, Pune, and Delhi. The company also aims to grow its offline presence while continuing to strengthen its cloud-kitchen and delivery operations. Future expansion will require additional financial investment, but the founders remain focused on maintaining quality as they scale. Their ambition is to establish O4H as a leading fresh-health food brand across India.

A Holistic Vision for Healthy Eating

The long-term vision for Order for Health extends beyond salads or individual meal categories. The founders want to build a holistic brand offering a broad range of healthy, tasty, and fresh food options. Their larger mission is to help India eat good and feel good by making nutritious food more accessible and convenient. From a single kitchen and ₹4 lakh in initial capital to a growing network across Bengaluru, Order for Health’s journey reflects the power of frugal operations, customer-led innovation, and disciplined execution.
