NYAI Raises $1.5 Million Seed Funding to Expand AI-Native Legal and Compliance Platform

Pune-based AI-native legal infrastructure startup NYAI has raised $1.5 million, approximately Rs 13 crore, in a seed funding round from a consortium of prominent Indian family offices, with participation from strategic angel investors.

The fresh capital will be used to accelerate technology development, expand NYAI’s AI-native compliance ecosystem and strengthen its presence among enterprises, listed companies and law firms. The company will also use the funds to support the deployment and assurance functions required by these institutions.

Founded in March 2025 by Chinmay Bhosale and Vikrant Labde, NYAI is building a compliance-focused legal AI and regulatory intelligence platform for the Indian legal ecosystem.

The platform provides citation-based legal research, contract analysis and automated document drafting, with its solutions tailored specifically to the Indian legal system.

AI Platform Built Around Indian Legal Data

According to NYAI, its AI models have been trained on millions of Indian court judgments, tribunal orders, acts, rules and regulatory updates.

Rather than focusing only on generating text, the platform is designed around verifiable citations, audit trails and source integrity. It also supports contract drafting, case document summarisation and real-time policy tracking.

The startup aims to help legal teams work with regulatory and legal information while maintaining a clear connection between AI-generated outputs and their underlying sources.

Focus on Enterprise Legal Workflows

NYAI’s architecture supports on-premises deployment, allowing organisations to keep sensitive legal information within their own environments.

The platform can also integrate with existing large language model infrastructure used by enterprises. According to the company, this allows privileged legal data to remain within the client’s environment while NYAI provides citation-backed outputs.

The platform has been designed to work within existing legal workflows, with the company targeting enterprises, listed companies and law firms as it expands its reach.

Addressing India’s Legal and Regulatory Risks

NYAI’s funding comes as businesses increasingly look to technology to manage complex legal and regulatory requirements.

According to market research cited by the company, Indian businesses collectively incur an estimated Rs 95,000 crore in legal and regulatory penalties every year.

The same research estimates that listed companies alone account for more than Rs 1.65 lakh crore in value erosion.

NYAI is positioning its AI-native legal infrastructure to help organisations better manage these risks through regulatory intelligence, source-backed legal research, contract analysis and compliance-focused workflows.

With the latest seed funding, the company plans to deepen its technology capabilities and expand its AI-native compliance ecosystem as it works to establish itself in India’s legal AI and regulatory technology market.
