Owners ID Raises $260K to Build a Smarter Way to Recover Lost Valuables

In a world where losing a wallet, luggage bag, passport, or even pet can instantly trigger panic, Bengaluru-based startup Owners ID is building a technology layer designed to make recovery simpler, safer, and more private.

The recovery-tech startup has raised $260K in a pre-seed funding round led by Crucifer Investments. The fresh capital will help the company accelerate product development, strengthen its technology infrastructure, scale manufacturing capabilities, improve its mobile application, and expand its AI-powered recovery ecosystem. The startup also plans to invest in brand building and international market expansion.

Founded in November last year by Jesintha Louis, Owners ID is attempting to solve a surprisingly common yet often overlooked everyday problem: lost belongings. From misplaced keys and wallets to lost travel bags and important documents, the startup wants to make physical items digitally traceable without compromising user privacy.

At the core of the platform is a privacy-first QR-based recovery system that enables anyone who finds a lost item to connect with its owner instantly, without revealing personal phone numbers or sensitive information. Unlike traditional tracking solutions that rely on batteries, GPS hardware, or app downloads, Owners ID’s solution works through universally accessible technologies such as smartphone cameras and QR scanning.

The company believes this simplicity could become its biggest strength, especially in a market where ease of use often determines mass adoption.

Owners ID has already expanded its offerings across several everyday categories, including luggage tags, passport and document protection, wallets and keys, gadgets and electronics, vehicle stickers, pet ID tags, and lifestyle accessories. The startup is positioning itself not merely as a recovery product company, but as a broader consumer safety and digital identity platform for physical belongings.

The opportunity is substantial. Industry estimates suggest India sees nearly 82 million lost-item-related incidents annually, while global incidents cross 319 million every year. As mobility increases and consumers carry more devices and valuables than ever before, the startup sees growing demand for seamless recovery solutions that prioritize both convenience and privacy.

By combining smart recovery technology with digital identity infrastructure, Owners ID is aiming to create what it describes as a “digital identity layer” for physical possessions — an ecosystem where valuables can be identified and returned with minimal friction.

With fresh funding now in place, the Bengaluru startup is preparing to scale its technology and take its privacy-led recovery solutions to a wider global audience.
