From Greater Noida to the Global Stage: AIC BIMTECH Brings Startup World Cup India Edition to Life

India’s startup ecosystem continues to expand beyond metro cities, with emerging hubs playing a crucial role in shaping the next wave of innovation. In a significant step toward strengthening this momentum, AIC BIMTECH hosted Tathagat Innovest in Greater Noida, positioning the region as a growing center for entrepreneurship, collaboration, and global startup engagement.

Held on March 12, 2026, the event brought together a powerful mix of policymakers, founders, investors, and academic leaders, while also marking a major milestone the India Edition of the Startup World Cup, organized globally by Pegasus Tech Ventures.

Building a Unified Innovation Ecosystem

The launch of Tathagat Innovest reflects a larger vision: creating a collaborative platform where industry, academia, government, and startups intersect to drive innovation-led growth.

Inspired by the philosophy of enlightened progress associated with Gautam Buddha, the initiative aims to foster meaningful engagement through knowledge exchange, startup showcases, and investor connections. The event saw participation from over 300 stakeholders, including startups, investors, incubators, policymakers, and corporate leaders highlighting the increasing importance of regional ecosystems in India’s startup landscape.

The gathering was inaugurated by key figures such as Dr. Nalin Kumar Srivastava from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Prateek Deshmukh of NITI Aayog, alongside ecosystem leaders including Surya Kant and Dr. Shalini Singh.

Their presence underscored a shared commitment to building a robust, innovation-driven economy aligned with national development goals.

Hosting the Startup World Cup India Edition

A defining highlight of the event was the hosting of the India regional round of the Startup World Cup, a globally recognized startup competition that provides winners with an opportunity to pitch on an international stage. Notably, this marks the first time an incubator in India has hosted the competition, signaling the growing maturity and global integration of India’s startup ecosystem.

With more than 100 applications from across the country, the competition shortlisted 25 high-potential startups to pitch before a distinguished jury panel of 16 industry experts. After a competitive round of presentations, the Top 10 startups included Navmarg, 1SpecialPlace, Aerosearch, NEMAAI, MicroHeal, Gadget Guruz, Techknights, Punha, and Cettlx Services.

Emerging as the winner of the India edition was Smalblu Technologies, founded by Garv Goyal, a student innovator from BITS Pilani. Goyal will now represent India at the global grand finale in San Francisco in November 2026, where startups from around the world will compete for a $1 million prize.

Spotlight on Emerging Startups from Bharat

Beyond the global competition, the event also focused on nurturing grassroots innovation by recognizing startups from smaller towns. Six emerging ventures Doctigo, ZK Labs, Technite, Punha Prosthetic, Naikroop, and Fettle were felicitated under the MeitY Startup Hub GENESIS EIR grant program.

This initiative highlights the increasing role of government-backed programs in enabling early-stage entrepreneurs from non-metro regions to access funding, mentorship, and market opportunities.

Creating the “Tathagat Innovation Corridor”

One of the most forward-looking aspects of the event was a roundtable discussion aimed at shaping the future of innovation in the region. Bringing together over 25 representatives from incubators, startups, academia, and industry, the discussion focused on building a “Tathagat Innovation Corridor” centered in Gautam Buddha Nagar.

The goal is to create a collaborative ecosystem that accelerates startup creation, strengthens incubation infrastructure, and aligns with long-term national visions such as Viksit UP 2047 and Viksit Bharat 2047.

Powering the Event Through Startup Collaboration

In a true reflection of ecosystem synergy, the event itself was executed with the support of Reskill, a startup backed by AIC BIMTECH and founded by Punit Jain. This collaboration highlights how incubators are not only supporting startups but also integrating them into larger ecosystem-building initiatives.

AIC BIMTECH’s Growing Impact

Established in 2017 under the aegis of the Atal Innovation Mission, AIC BIMTECH has steadily built a strong track record in nurturing entrepreneurship. Operating from the campus of Birla Institute of Management Technology, the incubator has supported over 500 startups, enabled 7,000+ jobs, and facilitated more than 200 industry and global partnerships.

Through initiatives like Tathagat Innovest, AIC BIMTECH continues to expand its role not just as an incubator, but as a catalyst for regional and global innovation ecosystems.

Bridging Local Innovation with Global Opportunity

As India’s startup ecosystem evolves, platforms like Tathagat Innovest demonstrate how regional initiatives can connect local innovation with global opportunities. By bringing together founders, investors, policymakers, and global platforms like the Startup World Cup, the event represents a shift toward collaborative, inclusive, and globally integrated entrepreneurship.

From Greater Noida to San Francisco, the journey of startups like Smalblu Technologies reflects a larger narrative India’s innovation story is no longer confined to a few cities; it is becoming a truly nationwide and global phenomenon.
