Intrinsic Foundries, a Hazaribagh-based biomanufacturing startup, has successfully raised Rs 12 crore ($1.4 million) in a Seed funding round led by Transition VC. The investment marks a significant step forward for the company’s mission to transform industrial waste into high-value commercial assets.
Strategic Use of Capital
The fresh infusion of capital is earmarked for several critical scaling milestones over the next 12 to 24 months:
-
Industrial Pilots: Executing large-scale demonstrations to prove technology viability.
-
Commercial Infrastructure: Operationalizing the company’s first one-ton-per-day commercial plant.
-
Global Expansion: Establishing a U.S. entity to spearhead international market development.
-
R&D and IP: Expanding research capabilities and filing new intellectual property patents.
-
Team Growth: Scaling engineering and commercial departments to meet industrial demand.
Turning Emissions into Assets
Founded in 2023 by Shreyansh Jain, Sanjay Jain, and Umang Jain, Intrinsic Foundries operates a carbon-to-value platform. Rather than simply capturing carbon, the company uses proprietary microbial biorefineries and modular photobioreactors to convert industrial emissions, effluents, and residues into premium biochemicals.
These biochemicals serve as sustainable raw materials for a wide range of sectors, including:
-
Food & Nutraceuticals
-
Pharmaceuticals
-
Cosmetics
-
Agriculture & Advanced Materials
Proven Technology and Road Map
Intrinsic Foundries differentiates itself through the integration of Factory 4.0 automation and biological systems. Following a successful Proof of Concept at a thermal power plant last year—which proved the reliability of their continuous carbon capture system—the startup is now moving toward heavy industry.
“We aim to demonstrate that emissions can power sustainable supply chains while delivering measurable economic return,” the company stated, highlighting its focus on revenue-positive decarbonization.
The company is currently engaging with leaders in the cement, steel, and pharmaceutical industries to integrate its biorefinery systems directly into existing industrial infrastructure.
