MIC Electronics Limited, a Hyderabad-based pioneer in LED display and electronic solutions, has achieved a major strategic breakthrough by securing its first-ever order for Passenger Announcement and Passenger Information Systems (PAPIS). The Letter of Acceptance (LoA) was issued by the Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala, a premier coach manufacturing unit of the Indian Railways.
This order marks MIC Electronics’ official entry into the high-tech PAPIS segment, a critical component of modern railway infrastructure that integrates GPS-based real-time data to enhance passenger communication.
A Strategic Entry into Railway Electronics
The contract follows a rigorous technical evaluation and the successful Capacity cum Capability Assessment (CCA) approval of the company’s GPS-location-based PAPIS solution in late 2024. This first commercial order validates MIC’s shift from technical approval to active market participation in specialized rail electronics.
Key Deliverables of the PAPIS Order:
-
GPS-Based Real-Time Info: Visual and audio updates on train location, speed, and ETA.
-
Automated Announcements: Synchronized voice messages for upcoming stations and safety alerts.
-
LED Display Systems: High-visibility, energy-efficient boards for coach interiors and destination indicators.
-
Integrated Design: Built to meet stringent RDSO (Research Designs and Standards Organisation) norms for LHB-type coaches.
Scaling Indian Railway Modernization
The order aligns with the Indian Railways’ broader vision under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and the push for indigenous “Make in India” technology. RCF Kapurthala, which is slated to manufacture hundreds of Vande Bharat and LHB coaches in the coming years, represents a massive recurring opportunity for MIC Electronics.
“Securing our first PAPIS order from Rail Coach Factory is a significant milestone for MIC Electronics,” said Mr. Rakshit Mathur, CEO of MIC Electronics Limited. “It reflects growing confidence in our technological capabilities and execution strength, and marks our entry into an important railway passenger communication and information segment.”
Market Impact and Growth
The news of the order led to a positive response in the stock market, with MIC Electronics shares hitting their upper circuit earlier this week. The company, which recently reported a massive 668% surge in Q3 revenue to ₹90.23 crore, continues to diversify its portfolio across smart cities and transportation.
This PAPIS order is a stepping stone for the company as it eyes larger contracts across other manufacturing hubs like ICF Chennai and MCF Raebareli, positioning itself as a key beneficiary of the upcoming 1,500 Vande Bharat coach manufacturing plan.
