Tribe Stays, a dynamic player in India’s hospitality sector focused on premium long-stay accommodations, has successfully closed a $2.8 million (approximately Rs 24 crore) seed funding round. The substantial investment was co-led by Artha Venture Fund and Riverwalk Holdings, marking a significant milestone for the rapidly growing brand.
Investment Details and Participants
The seed capital infusion saw participation from several key investors, including Kunal Khanna, Krishna Jain, and a cohort of High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNIs) and prominent family offices. This diverse group of backers underscores confidence in Tribe Stays’ model and its potential to capture a large share of the managed living space market.
Strategic Deployment of Funds
The newly raised capital is earmarked for ambitious expansion across Tribe Stays’ three core sub-brands:
-
Tribe Student Accommodation: Premium managed living spaces tailored for students.
-
Tribe Commune: Co-living and shared spaces for working professionals.
-
Tribe Suites: Upscale, managed long-stay apartments catering to corporates and executive guests.
The expansion strategy includes a significant increase in their current capacity. Tribe Stays presently operates 650 beds in Pune and plans to add 1,000 more within the current financial year.
Vision for Nationwide Scale
Founded by Yogesh Mehra, Tribe Stays aims for aggressive growth, setting a target to scale its operations to 25,000 beds across key Tier I and Tier II Indian cities. The target markets for this expansion include high-demand metropolitan hubs such as Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Gurugram, and Pune.
To facilitate this growth, the company plans to establish strategic partnerships with universities and major corporations. These collaborations will focus on providing managed accommodation solutions for student housing, employee relocation, and other long-stay requirements, cementing Tribe Stays’ position as a preferred partner for institutional managed living.
This funding will power Tribe Stays’ mission to standardize and elevate the long-stay experience for students, professionals, and corporate guests across India.
