Hyderabad-based Cosmoserve Space, a deeptech startup focused on sustainable space exploration, has raised $3.17 million in an oversubscribed pre-seed funding round. The round was led by Alan Rutledge, with participation from AUM Ventures and Shakti VC. Notably, the round also saw backing from Ram Shriram, an early investor in Google and long-serving board member.
The fresh capital will be used to accelerate R&D, strengthen the engineering team, and build prototypes for the company’s flagship space debris mitigation technology.
Founded by Dr. Chiranjeevi Phanindra, a former ISRO scientist and Deputy Project Director of India’s Gaganyaan mission, Cosmoserve Space is developing autonomous robotic spacecraft designed to clear orbital debris. With satellites, crewed missions, and space stations increasingly at risk from growing debris fields, the company aims to ensure long-term orbital sustainability.
“We are on a mission to create a safer, sustainable future in space,” said Dr. Phanindra, Founder & CEO of Cosmoserve Space. “This funding provides us the runway to fast-track development and partner globally to address the debris challenge at scale.”
Leveraging advanced robotics and aerospace expertise, Cosmoserve is positioning itself at the forefront of a critical global problem: building a safer, cleaner orbital ecosystem to support the next era of space exploration and commercialization.
