WaterScience Raises Rs 1.4 Cr from Velocity to Accelerate Non-Drinking Water Filtration Growth

Bengaluru-based non-drinking water filtration brand WaterScience has secured Rs 1.4 crore in funding from Velocity, a growth capital platform backed by Peter Thiel’s Valar Ventures.

The funds will be used to accelerate growth, strengthen brand marketing, and expand into new product categories, the company said in a press release.

Founded in 2014 by Sudeep Nadukkandy, Pavithra Rao, and Mohammed Iqbal, WaterScience addresses critical household water quality issues beyond drinking water, covering more than 95% of water use in homes. The company offers 40+ products including shower and tap filters, appliance filters, kitchen filters, water softeners, and whole-house filtration systems targeting contaminants like hard water and chlorine.

“This funding is a strong validation of our mission to make water safer and healthier for every Indian home,” said Pavithra Rao, Co-founder of WaterScience. “With Velocity’s support, we will scale faster and innovate across categories, adding another 1 million homes this year.”

Currently, WaterScience claims to be present in over 2 million households across India, reporting 70% year-on-year growth. Its products are available on Amazon, Flipkart, Shopify, and through 1,000+ offline retailers.

Velocity, which has supported 4,000+ D2C and digital-first brands and disbursed over Rs 1,100 crore, also provides solutions like Shipfast for AI-driven logistics. Its portfolio includes Soulflower, NasherMiles, Zlade, Chumbak, and others.
