Star Localmart, the retail arm of the Sanjay Ghodawat Group (SGG), has acquired Bengaluru-based DusMinute, a retail chain operating inside gated communities, for an undisclosed amount.
With this deal, Star Localmart’s network has expanded to 170 stores, strengthening its presence across tier-II to tier-VI towns. The company plans to scale up to 3,000 stores by 2030 and achieve ₹5,000 crore revenue in the next five years.
DusMinute, which runs 40 stores in residential complexes, focuses on delivering groceries, fruits, vegetables, and daily essentials. It also offers app-based doorstep delivery, aligning well with Star Localmart’s mission to make modern, affordable retail accessible to every community.
Founded in 2020, Star Localmart currently operates over 130 stores in 50 towns across Western Maharashtra and Northern Karnataka, offering 3,000+ SKUs that blend national, regional, and local brands. Beyond retail, it also emphasizes local job creation and skill training.
In July 2023, DusMinute raised ₹11.5 crore in a bridge round led by Inflection Point Ventures, with participation from Indian Angel Network and other investors.
By combining DusMinute’s hyperlocal community-driven model with its own regional retail expansion, Star Localmart is poised to deepen consumer reach and reinforce its leadership in India’s growing retail ecosystem.
