Embedded insurance platform Bimaplan has named Anurag Mishra as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a strategic leadership shift as the company accelerates its global growth ambitions.
Mishra joins Bimaplan from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), where he led global trade and supply chain finance operations across emerging markets. He brings deep financial expertise and operational experience, having also served as CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Nepal.
The company’s founder, Vikul Goyal, will now transition to focus on product innovation and strategic partnerships, while Mishra takes charge of scaling Bimaplan’s global operations and expansion strategy.
Founded to bridge the insurance gap in underserved communities, Bimaplan partners with financial institutions, microfinance entities, and digital platforms to deliver customized, low-ticket insurance products to low-income populations. Operating on a B2B2C model, the startup enables seamless distribution of policies via embedded APIs, significantly reducing distribution costs and expanding reach.
“Anurag’s appointment comes at a pivotal time as we deepen our international footprint and enhance our platform capabilities,” said Goyal. “His leadership will be instrumental in scaling Bimaplan’s mission globally.”
Bimaplan recently launched its first international program in Zambia and is actively expanding into the Middle East and Africa.
Backed by prominent global investors, Bimaplan raised $2.5 million in a pre-Series A round in June 2021 led by Amino Capital and Goodwater Capital, followed by a $3.5 million round in 2023 from Orios Venture Partners and others.
