Lenskart Backs Ajna Lens to Power the Next Generation of Smart Glasses

In a move that could redefine the future of wearable tech in India and beyond, eyewear giant Lenskart has announced a strategic investment in Ajna Lens, a Mumbai-based deep-tech startup known for its cutting-edge work in extended reality (XR) and spatial computing.

Ajna Lens, which gained international attention after winning the CES Innovation Award in 2023 for its flagship mixed reality headset AjnaXR, is at the forefront of building immersive, AI-powered experiences. The partnership with Lenskart signals a powerful fusion of deep-tech innovation with consumer-centric product design.

For Lenskart, this investment is more than a financial move—it marks a leap forward in its smart eyewear journey, which started with the launch of Phonic, its audio smart glasses, in December 2024. By teaming up with Ajna Lens, the company aims to create a new generation of AI-driven smart glasses that are not only functional and stylish but also widely accessible.

“We have been leveraging technology to create distinctive and meaningful eyewear experiences for our customers,” said Peyush Bansal, Co-Founder & CEO of Lenskart. “This investment marks the next chapter in our smart glass journey. As the Smart Glasses category scales rapidly, our partnership with Ajna Lens strategically positions us to accelerate product innovation in this space.”

Lenskart, which currently operates in 14 countries through an omnichannel retail model, says it will use its vast network and deep customer insights to guide the design and development of smart glasses that better serve evolving lifestyle needs.

Founded in 2014, Ajna Lens is among India’s most promising deep-tech ventures. With a focus on spatial computing, AI vision, and immersive XR technologies, the company has built products that serve critical industries including defense, education, and enterprise. At its core, Ajna aims to augment human intelligence by seamlessly bridging the physical and digital worlds.

Speaking on the partnership, Ajna Lens expressed excitement about combining its technological capabilities with Lenskart’s design expertise and retail reach. Together, the companies hope to take smart eyewear mainstream, unlocking new possibilities for how we see and interact with the world.

As the global wearable tech market heats up, this collaboration could well position India as a serious innovator in the space—combining homegrown technology with global ambition.
