In Bengaluru, a new generation of founders is reimagining the building blocks of online commerce — and this time, they’re letting AI take the reins.
ShopOS, a tech startup born out of the deep-tech trenches of Flipkart Labs, has raised $20 million in a funding round led by 3STATE Ventures, the investment firm of Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal. The round underscores a growing belief in AI-first commerce infrastructure, and in this case, a team that knows the playbook intimately.
At its core, ShopOS is building a full-stack AI operating system for e-commerce — one that helps brands launch and manage online stores with zero friction. From generating product descriptions, visuals, and videos to real-time layout personalization and automated marketing, their “AI workforce” is designed to do it all.
The team behind the magic — Sai Krishna V K and Ajay P V, the duo who earlier founded Scapic (acquired by Flipkart in 2020) — are joined by Karan Sonawala, an AI veteran from Flipkart’s immersive commerce team.
“The friction in content and personalization is still a big bottleneck. With ShopOS, we want to show what AI agents can truly unlock for brands globally,” the co-founders shared. “We’re building from India, for the world.”
The fresh funding will fuel product development, global expansion, and a deeper AI engineering team. With early traction across India, Europe, and the UAE, the platform is now chasing a wider global footprint.
Interestingly, this also highlights the strength of the so-called “Flipkart mafia” — a growing group of ex-Flipkart founders and builders turning investors and mentors. Binny Bansal, in particular, has doubled down on commerce SaaS bets this year, with OppDoor and Opptra also launching under his 3STATE Ventures.
In ShopOS, he’s backing a team that not only shares Flipkart DNA but is also tackling a global-scale problem with a bold, AI-led thesis.
