Bridging the Gap in Prosthetics: The Journey of Fupro Innovation Pvt. Ltd.

Let’s face it, prosthetics in India have long been stuck in a bind: great options exist, but they’re expensive. Affordable ones? Often not great. But two determined founders decided to break this mold literally and figuratively.

Meet Nimish Mehra and Cyril Joe Baby, the brains (and big hearts) behind Fupro Innovation Pvt. Ltd., a startup on a mission to redefine how assistive tech, especially prosthetics, can be made accessible, high quality, and life-changing all without breaking the bank.

Where It All Began: A Personal Setback, A Bigger Purpose

For Nimish, it all started with a knee surgery. Facing mobility challenges firsthand, he realized the need for something better, something that didn’t force people to choose between affordability and functionality. This personal challenge became the foundation for Fupro, short for the “Future of Prosthetics.”

“We wanted to bridge the glaring gap in India’s prosthetic market,” says Nimish. “Good products existed, but access was the issue.” So the duo got to work on designing, testing, building, and evolving. Today, Fupro makes advanced prosthetic limbs using a smart mix of polyurethanes, polymers, and metals; tough, versatile, and built to last.

What really sets them apart? Every device is medically prescribed, ensuring it’s not just innovative but also clinically sound.

Challenges?

Reaching tier-3 and tier-4 cities is a big challenge. People there often don’t have enough awareness, and the healthcare infrastructure is limited. It also isn’t easy for Indian medical devices to compete with foreign brands, as many people still trust international products more. But this challenge is also a big opportunity to create real change.

But then came the game-changer: Shark Tank India.

“Our Shark Tank feature gave us the boost we needed, orders jumped, and suddenly, we were on the map,” shares Cyril. That visibility helped transform their idea into a manufacturing powerhouse with 11 specialized departments.

Real Stories, Real Smiles

Sure, the tech is impressive but what truly defines Fupro is the impact.

Take the professional cricket player who chose Fupro over an international brand, or the daily wage worker who, thanks to their prosthetic, now clocks in 16-hour shifts with ease. These aren’t just success stories, they’re life stories, made better with thoughtful innovation.

Fupro’s work goes beyond mechanics; it restores confidence, independence, and dignity.

What’s Next? More Tech, More Lives Touched

“We believe India can lead the global assistive tech revolution,” says Nimish. Fupro isn’t just stopping at limbs. The founders have a big vision: to expand into hearing aids, vision solutions, and elderly care tools, all with the same promise: affordability meets quality.

The Takeaway: Purpose and Profit

Fupro’s journey is a reminder that purpose and profit aren’t mutually exclusive. From a personal challenge to national recognition, Nimish and Cyril have proven that when you combine passion with perseverance, the results can be revolutionary.

So what’s the future of prosthetics? According to Fupro it’s smarter, stronger, and more inclusive than ever before.

And in Nimish’s words, a mantra every founder should live by:

Persistence is key in entrepreneurship. When you believe in your mission, no challenge is insurmountable.”
