BrowserStack Acquires Requestly to Boost Developer Testing Tools.

In a move to strengthen its suite of developer tools, BrowserStack has acquired Requestly, a popular open-source platform that allows developers to intercept, modify, and mock API requests in the browser. The acquisition amount remains undisclosed.

Founded by Sachin Jain, Requestly has built a strong developer community with over 200,000 users across more than 10,000 companies. The tool simplifies debugging and testing for frontend developers, making it easier to simulate API responses, manipulate network calls, and test edge cases without changing backend code.

Backed by Y Combinator and Peak XV Partners, Requestly had raised $125,000 prior to the acquisition. The platform’s browser extension and desktop app have become go-to tools for engineers working on complex front-end applications.

BrowserStack, known for its cross-browser testing infrastructure and supported by Accel, stated that Requestly will continue to operate independently and remain open-source. The acquisition will allow Requestly to tap into BrowserStack’s global infrastructure and engineering resources to build new capabilities faster.

One of the immediate benefits post-acquisition will be the expansion of Requestly’s features to support HTTP interception on Android emulators and iOS simulators—critical environments for mobile app development and testing.

This move is part of BrowserStack’s broader strategy to enhance developer productivity. Earlier this year, it introduced an AI-powered testing platform designed to streamline QA workflows. By integrating Requestly into its ecosystem, BrowserStack is doubling down on its mission to simplify and speed up software development and testing for modern engineering teams.
